Vivienne Westwood Swaps Diamonds For New Palladium Jewelry Line

British designer Vivienne Westwood's newest jewelry collection may not be made of diamonds, but they are just as sparkly. The fashion maven has collaborated with Palladium Alliance International on an eco-friendly designer jewelry line made of metal derived from nature.
The "Get A Life" Palladium Collection debuted at London Fashion Week and will be sold exclusively at Westwood's London and Los Angeles boutiques.
"Jewelry has nothing to do with Get a Life," Westwood says of the jewelry line that features symbols of nature that mean something more than just a sparkly metal. Westwood say sthe line about how to preserve life in the next generation while getting a better life currently in the moment. It's also about saving the environment whether that means stopping climate change, saving the rainforest or wearing pieces that don't harm it.
Palladium Alliance International chairman John Stark calls Westwood "the UK's most culturally significant fashion designer." They feel she is a perfect fit for their brand and complements the metal.
Another perfect fit for the metal and the jewelry line according to Westwood? The jewelry label's model Christina Hendricks, who models a giant heart-shaped pendant with a Gaia inscription that represents hope. The Mad Men star models the chunky jewelry with an off-the-shoulder gown in blue.
The actress also poses against a mirror wearing a plum colored dress and a tiara made of oak leaves and acorns. Both oak leaves and acorns are symbols used in the nature-loving jewelry collection.
The former Playboy model called Westwood one of her favorite designers and loves the fact that she uses her designs to inspire change.
"As palladium is a naturally white metal, the pieces really sparkle under the lights and I cannot wait to wear them on the red carpet!" Hendricks beams. Guess she's trading in her diamonds?
