When Apple unveiled its newest product, the iPad, no one was quite sure how successful it would be. Well, 51,000 iPads have been pre-ordered just two hours after it went on pre-order. A day later, the number reached approximately 120,000. The iPad went on pre-sale March 12.
Two thirds of the customers who pre-ordered the iPad opted for the Wi-Fi version, with remaining customers choosing both the 3G and Wi-Fi support. As far as memory goes, the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB sold about equal.
For those customers who want a little more sparkle from their device, they can get a diamond iPad. Yup, it’s exactly what it sounds like. The entire device is covered in a huge number of diamonds, totaling 11.43 carats. They diamonds are color grade G/H and VS2/SI1 clarity.
The iPad will start shipping on April 3. The diamond iPad will start selling on June 1 for a mere $20,000.
