Oprah Invites Diamond Designer To Sydney Opera House Show

Talk show host Oprah Winfrey loves diamonds, especially those designed by Aussie jeweler Stefano Canturi, who has been making jewels for the media mogul for 10 years.
The Color Purple actress already wears a huge diamond-studded O pendant around her neck which was custom-made for her by Canturi. He has also let her borrow millions of dollars worth of diamonds to wear on the show over time and has been on the cover of her popular O, The Oprah magazine.
Winfrey learned of Canturi's diamond designs when she wanted to have the Moulin Rouge diamond necklace, worn by Nicole Kidman in the movie, and designed by the Australian jeweler, on the show.
Oprah isn't the only one who wears his lavish designs. Kylie Minogue and model Linda Evangelista are big fans of his diamond brand. Back in February 2010, the diamond jeweler, who is best known for his luxe diamond engagement rings and other fine jewelry, had a short interview with Vogue Australia.
He offered some great tips for what people should know before picking out a diamond engagement ring.
Among other things, Canturi said:
• Don't be conditioned to one style, surprise yourself.
• Be aware of your fiancé and his part in the whole thing.
• Be considerate to his budget
• Make sure you see the design before you buy (on screen or in person)
"'[The ring] needs to reflect who you are and evolve with your identity, having said that you must keep an open mind when searching for your perfect ring," Canturi says.
According to Canturi, modern women have redefined their idea of the stylish engagement ring. They are no longer sticking to tradition and instead turning away from the norm and the mundane options that everyone is wearing.
"More than ever, women are wanting something symbolic and special that says something about who they are whether this is a sparkling diamond in our 'Dream Setting' which reflects the 'girl' in you, or a black sapphire in a vintage style ring which says how seductive you are. Women are looking for something that has not been dictated to them or set out in a rule book, however that will be everlasting. So go for it!"
Canturi and his wife Patricia have been invited to attend the taping of Oprah Winfrey's show at the Sydney Opera House on December 14. That audience will also be filled with some of Oprah's most loyal and dedicated viewers, including 300 people who had been sitting in her audience in September when she told them she was flying them to Australia for an eight-day adventure.
Winfrey is using her 25th and last season to pull out all the stops for her loyal audience members. On December 14, she will turn the Sydney Opera House into the Sydney "Oprah" House.
