The Hindu ceremony that made up the Russell Brand and Katy Perry wedding went off without a hitch and the newly married couple looked especially happy as they made their first public appearance since the big day at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid.

Just back from their honeymoon, the duo flashed matching micro pave diamond wedding rings on the red carpet.  According to a rep from the Diamond Information Center, the wedding bands were worth about $50,000 to $75,000 each. 

Perry also took home the best video award that night for her song California Gurls. She was nominated for five awards. Perry dressed in a glittery red Jeremy Scott dress made to look like a ticket stub. 

The pop star, who's hit, I Kissed A Girl, first brought her out in the spotlight, also saw gal pal Rihanna at the ceremony, though Rihanna didn't make it to the wedding.   

Brand and his bride, who recently came out with Firework, the third video from her latest album, got married in a traditional Hindu ceremony at the Ranthambore Safari Park in India in October. 

The pair wore traditional Indian wardrobes and the ceremony was conducted by a Hindu priest.  The Teenage Dream singer had her hands and palms designed with henna art, which is customary for Indian brides.

The couple first met a little over a year ago at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York in 2009, where comedian Russell Brand was host. It's ironic that they "close the circle", so to speak, by showcasing their diamond rings at another MTV music awards show.
