Making Life Easier With Gold Hoops

For most women, every morning is a little adventure. Beginning the second I step out of the shower, I go into Outfit Selection Mode. Sometimes the process is easy, especially if I put some thought into it while out for a run, but then there are the others days. Most days. I will often put on at least two outfits before settling on the right one for the day. Shoes must be taken into consideration also. This can cause another shirt change, at the very least. Then I move on to jewelry, if I remember. By this time, I am running late, have spilled coffee somewhere, and am swearing my head off. I put on my Dad’s high school class ring. This is a given. And then comes earring choices. A few weeks ago, I finally set out one day with only one purpose in mind: I needed to buy simple gold hoops, in both white and yellow gold , of course. They are the earrings that match everything. They are any woman’s default earring setting. When all else is falling apart around you—the alarm didn’t go off, there wasn’t enough hot water for the shower, you can’t find your keys—gold hoops are always there to make at least one part of your morning easy.
Not only are gold hoops the easiest choice to make, but they are also consistently stylish. You can get them as small, understated accessories, or go large, as I am lately with my “ghetto hoops”. You can, for fancier occasions, get hoops that dangle, hoops that twist, hoops with 3 different shades of gold. At this year’s Academy Awards, Drew Barrymore, Jane Seymour and Halle Berry all opted for hoop earrings. At the Annual BET Awards, Queen Latifah, Ashanti, and T-Boz of TLC were decked out in hoops as well. On the show “Celebrity Apprentice”, Carol Alt made her hoop earrings so famous that Bloomingdale's is selling replicas of them.
The really great thing about gold hoops is that they aren’t really expensive. Most men cringe at the word “gold”, equating it with “expensive”. Not so. You can get gold hoops for as much—or as little—as you want to spend. Should you select a pair that is diamond-encrusted, expect to pay more. But for your simple, easy, no-thoughts-necessary gold hoops, you can afford to have them in more than one size, and more than one color. Make sure that you show your boyfriend or husband that the gold hoops on your Christmas list are not very expensive, before he forgets about the whole thing and you end up opening the next generation of Dust Buster this December 25.
