Diamond Knives Get More Domestic Applications

diamonds-knives-changing-our-livesFor decades, diamonds have been used in industry, creating a heat-resistant, ultra-strong, long-lasting cutting or drilling surface.  Diamond blades have had innumerable commercial uses since it was discovered that their trademark hardness and strength could be harnessed and made into large-scale drilling or cutting tools.  As technology moved ahead and scientists understood more and more about diamonds and the possible uses for them, it became clear that the hardest of stones could be used for delicate things as well.

Companies like Pelco saw the possibilities for diamonds and began creating diamond-edged tools for scientific research.  They found that a diamonds, when properly cut and mounted, created the sharpest and most accurate cutting device on the market.  After welding each diamond onto a steel handle, a series of processes lap and polish the diamond to an extraordinarily thin and sharp blade.  They are sold only when the diamond edge is deemed flawless.

Accutome uses a similar procedure, but caters to the surgical market.  Creating tools for procedures as exact as eye surgery, they use diamonds to create the ideal edge.  The bevel and shape of each diamond blade determines its specific surgical use.  Because of the way each knife is fashioned from flawless diamonds, the cutting edge is absolutely smooth, allowing for an incomparably accurate incision.   The use of diamonds in the operating room was a tremendous leap forward in medicine.

Now, diamond knives are being used in the kitchen, as well.  Grunwerg, a British company, has recently released the Silver Titan and Diamond Titan knife lines.  Created with a combination of ceramic, titanium, and either silver or diamonds, the blades are built for strength.  In recent years, it is ceramic knives that became the indispensible kitchen tool, but now, with the Diamond Titan, and even sharper and more accurate blade has been created.  With a tensity four times greater than steel, and incorporating the previously-superior ceramic surface, these are, without a doubt, the strongest kitchen knives on the market.  “These knives are the most technologically advanced in the world,” says Rachel Grunweg, Director of Sales and Marketing, “and offer superior performance, longevity, and design features like no other knife”.  The Nesmuk Diamond studded kitchen knives take it to yet another level, adorning the handles with knives to make them conversation pieces, as well.

From the mammoth industrial drill to the operating room, diamonds are finding far more applications than just looking pretty in jewelry.  They are changing the way we conduct industry, undergo surgery, and even cut slices of bread.  Diamonds are proving to be invaluable in new and exciting ways.
