Stuart Hughes, who made a name for himself designing ultra-high-end versions of popular handheld devices like iPhones and Blackberries, has expanded his repertoire further still. Creating the iPod Supreme Rose Edition, he has released a beautiful 18-karat rose gold iPod just in time for Valentine’s Day.
This beautiful creation takes an iPod and encases it in the 18-karat rose gold. Beyond that, the navigation button is platinum and encircled with 4.5 carats of flawless diamonds. The Apple logo on the back of the device is platinum with an addition 53 flawless diamonds totaling another 4.5 carats. It is a gift truly for the person who has everything and wants more. Hughes made a name for himself designing ultra-expensive versions of common devices and continues to up the ante for himself. This little treasure can be bought for $95,000, and only 10 units are being made worldwide.
Hughes also created a design for the iPhone 3G called the iPhone 3G Supreme. Those are more expensive, running a cool $3.2 million each. The casing is 22-karat gold, with the front featuring an outline of 136 bezel-set flawless, F-color diamonds, totaling a whopping 68 carats. On the back, the Apple logo is made of 53 flawless diamonds, and the front navigation button is only a single, very rare 7.1-carat diamond. It’s presentation box is a work of art itself, a chest made from a block of granite and covered in Kashmir gold and a Nubuck leather lining. As this is made of yellow gold, it has a more masculine flair and makes a perfect gift for the man who has everything.
Either way, Stuart Hughes is designing for people who have everything, including more money than they know how to spend.
