Former Korn Guitarist Wants to Save 50 Cent

Since leaving the nu-metal band Korn and becoming an avid Christian, guitarist Brian “Head” Welch has been touring with other Christian-based nu-metal bands and passing the word about being saved by Jesus. In an interview with The Examiner, he talked about founding an orphanage in India, telling them, “I was like, ‘I’m going to India to feed the poor!’ You know, leave everything. I sold my house and we left town…I was showing God that I wasn’t afraid to obey.”
On one of his ‘scripture binges’, he felt that God told him “to go to 50 Cent and write a letter to him, and tell him Jesus wants to save him, too.” The only person Welch had in common with 50 Cent—the only person who could pass along his missive—was their mutual jeweler. On realizing this, Welch promptly went to the jeweler, bought several diamonds, and gave him the letter, asking him to pass it along.
Although Welch received no response, he remains optimistic. 50 Cent, however, does not do drugs, drink alcohol, or smoke. He is also an exercise enthusiast, and is known for his flawless build, so what he needs to be saved FROM is a bit of a mystery. The rapper admits to a drug-dealing past and makes no secret of the gun-toting, gang lifestyle he once led. He embraces it, but is no longer a part of it. He still loves to wear his diamonds, but he earns his money now through legal channels—his music, his clothing line, endorsements, and his own Vitamin Water.
Perhaps Brian Welch can find someone else to save.
