Barbie isn't wearing a diamond engagement ring from Ken, yet—but what she is wearing is a beautiful pink diamond necklace that could go for as much as October 20.  The auction house claims that if Barbie and her pink diamond are auctioned off for anywhere between $300,000 and $500,000, then it would be the most expensive Barbie ever. 

However, it's likely that bidders will bid on the pink diamond itself rather than the $500,000 at an upcoming auction. 

Barbie's 1-carat diamond is being auctioned at Christie's in New York City on Barbie doll unless they are big Barbie fans.  The most expensive Barbie ever up for auction to this day sold for $17, 091 in 2006 at Christie's London. 

The pink diamond is in the middle of the necklace and is surrounded by smaller white diamonds. While the emerald-cut pink diamond is worth 1-carat, the addition of the smaller white diamonds makes the entire necklace a total of 3-carats. 

The world's largest toy company Mattel brought on jeweler Stefano Canturi, who also designed the Barbie's custom-made clothes and accessories, which include her black strapless dress, peep-toe stilettos, hair, and other features. 

The geometric design of the diamond necklace was inspired by Cubism.

A press release stated: “Stefano Canturi was invited by Mattel to create a historical concept to highlight how iconic Barbie has been throughout her 50 years. The result is Barbie by Stefano Canturi, the rarest and most valuable Barbie ever created."

“I wanted the jewelry design to pay homage to Barbie’s modern yet timeless style over the ages,” Stefano Canturi said.

Proceeds at the auction will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
