The Eternal Diamond Stilettos Are The Most Expensive Shoes In The World

8/8/2010 5:18:52 AM  Simona Kogan

The most expensive pair of shoes in the world has gone on sale in the United Kingdom.  The handmade Eternal Diamond Stilettos are covered in 2,200 diamonds and worth 100,000 pounds.  They are 30 carats.

Goldsmiths create the shoes from sold sheets of gold and set the diamonds by hand.  Each pair takes 100 hours to complete.

So far five of these stylish stilettos have been sold.  According to the Daily Mail, Victoria Beckham, Paris Hilton, and Cheryl Cole are also fans.

The sky-high heels come with a 1000-year guarantee.  They were created by designer Christopher Michael Shellis and sold through The House of Borgezie.  The shoes are produced in the Jewelry Quarter in Birmingham, England.

Shellis spent three years working on these shoes. He says he reinvented the "fundamental principle of classic stiletto construction."

"Shoes are something women find totally irresistible and I wanted a way of showcasing my skills of goldsmithing diamond-setting and design in a way that was really attractive, "Shellis told the Courier Mail newspaper.

"These shoes are iconic and elegant and are the ultimate form of female expression,"

Shellis says that unlike other shoes which have diamonds sewn on them, the Eternal Diamond Stilettos has diamonds soldered on so they cannot be destroyed.

Instead of getting your loved one a pair of diamond earrings or a diamond pendant, why not opt for a pair of these luxurious heels.  Shellis says you won't be sorry!

"The reaction to the shoes has been amazing. People literally stop and stare when they see them," he says.
