Recently, the “Kirstie Kelly for Disney by Mouwad” collection of Disney princess-inspired engagement rings was presented at Bridal Week in New York.
The jewelry line - the brainchild of designer Kirstie Kelly - features six diamond engagement rings inspired by Disney’s famous ladies: Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. “Subtle references to the personalities of each princess can be seen throughout the collection such as pave and millgrain borders, suggestive of Cinderella's ethereal grace and charm, or baguettes and clean lines for Ariel, symbolic of an art deco influence and her bold individuality,” says a Disney release.
The collection will be available to the public beginning spring 2010. The princess-cut Sleeping Beauty is very elegant and sells for $5,460. The Cinderella ring is classy with its sizable center diamond and two smaller baguettes. Jasmine sells for $5,160, Belle for $4,220, Ariel for $3,280 and Snow White for $3,580.
Need a glamorous dress to match your engagement ring? No problem. Kirstie Kelly is also set to release Disney-inspired bridal gowns. This season features a dress in honor of Disney’s newest princess – Princess Tiana. Princess Tiana is Disney’s first African-American princess, and she will star in the forthcoming “The Princess and the Frog” this December.
According to the company, “The sheath-style gown has an ivory hue with a hand beaded rouched bodice of silk chiffon; a cascading pleated silk skirt and a waterfall train.”
“The Princess Tiana gown is a very special part of the Disney Princess collection,” added Kirstie. “When I look at this gown I see a modern woman that is very comfortable with her own identity. The gown is designed for a bride with a modern sensibility and effortlessly exudes both romance and sultry flair.”
