Diamond Giveaway Treasure Hunt An outdoor treasure hunt designated “Diamond Dash,” whose winning prize is a diamond ring valued at over $12,000, will be taking place on June 18 in downtown Stamford, Connecticut. The  diamond giveaway is a partnership between NAGI Jewelers, a family owned Connecticut jewelry store, and SCVNGR, a mobile gaming platform specializing in location based games. Approximately 300 couples are expected to participate in the treasure hunt.

Using the SCVNGR  application on their cell phones, couples will pursue clues in downtown Stamford on foot and earn points by completing tasks and challenges of varying degrees of difficulty. Participants will be allotted two hours to complete the challenge. The couple with the most points at the end of the game will win the pricey Hearts on Fire diamond ring. Second and third prizes will also be awarded.

"It’s an old school scavenger hunt brought into the 21st century,” says John Lingos-Webb of  SCVNGR.

The treasure hunt is free of charge, but participants are required to submit their personal story on the event’s website in order to qualify as official entrants. NAGI Jewelers, whose community involvement is well chronicled on its website, will be also accepting donations and canned goods for a food bank at the beginning of the event.  “We wanted to do something for the community that nobody else was doing…by embracing this new technology, we’re able to give away a beautiful diamond ring in a way that’s fun for everybody,” said Nagi Osta, owner of Nagi Jewelers.

On its official website, SCVNGR describes itself as a “short-form casual game" (vs. longer format events) and runs over 100 treasure hunt type events each year in which  mobile platforms are an integral part of the gaming process. In the Diamond Dash, SCVNGR, which is downloadable via a free app for certain types of smart phones, will provide participants with digital maps of the downtown area via their cell phones.

diamond ring The Pope's Jewelry for Sale on eBay Cool… Or just plain weird Selling diamond jewelry on eBay is a good idea for people who want to make some cash Selling diamond jewelry on eBay when you were the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church for fifteen years is… untraditional to say the least Pope Paul VI donated two pieces of jewelry – a diamond cross and a diamond ring – to the United Nations fifty years ago with the intention of auctioning them off for charity Over the years they have been owned by many different people (including in a twist of verbal irony Evel Knievel) and most recently a man who bought them in the 1970s After his passing his wife decided to auction them off once again A jewelry store in North Carolina Perry's Emporium is in charge of the auction which takes place via eBay
