De Beers Sponsors Star-Studded Love Ball

This year’s Naked Heart Foundation, which provides safe parks and playgrounds for children in Russia, hosted their annual Love Ball last Saturday. Running the event were Natalia Vodianova and Lucy Yeomans, editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar UK, who gathered an impressive list of celebrities to help raise money for their cause. Because the ball was sponsored by diamond giant De Beers, diamonds were the featured attractions of the evening.
The charity’s centerpiece was the Magic Moment necklace, designed by Vodianova and created by De Beers. The piece is made of delicate diamond-studded chains. From the traditional necklace, Vodianova designed the chain to fall down the front of the body and gently encircle the waist. In the center, falling close to the wearer’s heart, are 1.10 carat fancy intense pink heart-shaped diamond and a 3.06 carat white heart-shaped diamond, set together in micropave diamonds. “Designing this piece with De Beers was an experience I will treasure forever,” said Vodianova. “Creating something so precious that truly represents my passion for the Naked Heart Foundation was a unique opportunity for which I will be eternally grateful.”
In attendance at the fundraiser were Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg, Joely Richardson, Stella McCartney, Mario Testino, Kate Moss, and Mariacarla Boscono, among others. Italian supermodel Boscono wore De Beers’ Arabesque earrings and cuff, while Vodianova herself wore a De Beers-designed, 122 carat necklace of pear-shaped diamonds.
The Love Ball centered around the Magic Moment, however, and the proceeds of its sale were all to go to the Naked Heart Foundation.
