DNA2Diamonds Partners with Funeral Home

dna2diamonds-dead-loved-one-memorial-diamondsDover, Delaware --  DNA2Diamonds, a company that makes diamonds from the cremated remains of people or pets, has recently forged an almost macabre partnership with the Trader Funeral Home of Dover, Delaware.  The funeral home will now advertise turning a loved one into diamond jewelry as a possible memorial.  Only a small amount of hair or cremated remains is required to create a diamond, so even those who chose burial over cremation can benefit from this option.  “Our customers love our memorial diamonds,” says Tom Bischoff, President of DNA2Diamonds, “Not only because they’re a tangible reminder, but because they forever contain the essence of the loved ones and encase the closeness of their memories”.  Bischoff has taken what was not long ago a seedling of a company and gone to funeral director trade shows to ply his goods.

The diamonds are real diamonds, created from the carbon that exists in all living—and once living—things.  Putting that carbon material into a machine that replicates the intense pressure and heat that create natural diamonds within the earth’s crust, a real diamond is born.  The only difference is that it takes millions of years to create a natural diamond.  A lab-grown diamond can be made in weeks, and Bischoff guarantees a genuine, certified diamond within 70 days.  For those who like the idea of wearing a loved one forever as a piece of jewelry, this is a wonderful service.

DNA2Diamonds can create diamonds between .25-2.0 carats, depending on what the individual customer wants.  Each person can also choose between red, yellow-green, cognac, and blue colored stones.  Until February, the company offered round brilliant, radiant-cut, and princess-cut diamond shapes, but recently added the heart-shaped stone to its options because of consumer demand.  They will set the diamond into a pendant, earrings, or ring, and even suggest using their “personal carbon” diamonds as engagement rings.  Because they are literally made from the remains of a beloved family member or pet, each diamond is, indeed, unique.

According to Bischoff, each memorial stone can be a treasured family heirloom to be passed down for generations.  “Distinct from any other memorial offering previously available,” he said in a recent press release. “DNA2Diamonds are truly unique.  Not many consumers are aware of this memorial alternative.  Funeral homes, cemetery and cremation providers can expland their memorial options and offer a sparkling reminder of a loved one who has passed”.  While some might see this as a bit morbid, to wear someone’s DNA in a diamond ring, Bischoff is confident that his business will continue to grow.  Pet owners began the trend, and now DNA2Diamonds is being featured in this May’s edition of Dog Fancy magazine, in an article entitled “Diamonds and Best Friends are Forever”.  It was from this market that the company grew and became a feasible option for human remains as well.  It is certainly an interesting alternative to a simple photograph and will, for some, offer comfort each day the diamond is worn.
